Göschener Alp - lake, rocks and goats

The location used to be a small mountain hamlet. It was transformed into an artificial lake to generate electrity in 1950. Near the dam, a mountain hotel offers tourists healthy meals and nice rooms to stay at 1800 m above sea level. A wonderful view to the mountains and overlooking the lake. The former village of Göscheneralp was flooded by the newly created lake in 1960. The generators produce electricity for the Swiss national grid and the Swiss national railways (SBB).
