Milano
The metropolitan area of Milano is the ecomonical powerhouse of Italy. Already in Celtic and Roman times (medio planum) this place was the crossing point from North (the Alps) and South (Roma), East (Venezia) and West (Torino, Piemonte). Enigmatic buildings from the medieval as the Gothic Duomo Maria Nascente and the modern business district around Porta Garibaldi show the high interest in architecture. Fashion is king in Via delle Spiga where all labels have representative shops. The water channels in the Navigli quarter attract tourists and locals equally with nice bars and restaurants over looking the waterways that were used for trade and for washing laundry. The Pinacoteca die Brera has famous paintings my favorites are Caravaggioa and Canaletto. |
