Kioto, Hyogo, Japan

The city of Heian-kio became capital of Japan in 794. The name changted into Kioto at later stage. The Emperor lost influence over time, and the Fujiware family became influential because of mariages in the nobility. With the upcoming Ieiasu family in Edo (Tokio) around 1590, Kioto lost importance over time. Today, the city is also known for the headquarters of Nintendo entertainment company and optoelectronic enterprises.
