Kyoto, Japan

The next day in September 2019, I walk towards the Otani Hombyo temple through its cemetary where many members of the Jodo Shinshu are buried. The temple area hosts the mausoleum of Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Shinshu. The place is more quiet than the Kyomizudera on top the hill which is a must for any tourist.
More about Otani Hombyo and Kyomizudera at their websites.

Kodaiji temple was established by the nun Kodai-in in 1606. She was the widow of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The Japanese gravel garden is very impressing, the whole temple area has amazing gardens. The temple belongs to the Zen Buddhism Rinzai school.
