Kyoto (2), Japan

The next day I went to the Eastern hills to see more breath taking attractions.

Some traditional town houses can be seen in Gion on the way to Kiyomizu-dera which is my favorite place in Kyoto.

The temple Kiyomizu-dera was first built 798 AC but today's buildings are from 1633. It belongs to the Hosso school of Buddhism.

As a memory to Shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi, his wife erected the Kodai-ji temple in 1605. It has an outstanding garden with a pavillion on an island in a pond. Next to the garden you can walk along a nice bamboo forest.
