Osaka, Kansai, Japan

I was visiting Osaka again in automn 2019 when I was staying in neighbouring Kobe for a language training. My starting point for Osaka was Umeda station, where Japan Railways, Hankyu and Hanshin Railways are coming together. To the east, the Doyama district has lots of shops, restaurants and bars to entertain. More to the south, the Tsutenkaku tower quarter next to the zoological garden is worth visiting, it was built for the world exposition 1912 and still looks modern. Nicely decorated restaurants are attracting customer, e.g. with a floating boat where you can catch your own fish, or the Fugu restaurant that has the licence to prepare this poisonous species. In the south-east part, the Aquarium of Osaka is located with displays of fishes and other animals living along the seas of the world. The main basin is huge and you go down to different depth levels by walking down a spiraling path. There is a hall with arctic penguins standing on ice blocks, and a pool with mantas that like to be petted - amazing !
